Skiles and Henderson came to Sun Life on Thursday, March 18. Bill Skiles (1931-) and Pete Henderson (1938-) became a comedy team in 1958 doing their first shows at Disneyland . The two young men met in 1953 when Pete was 15. Bill had just been released from the Air Force while Pete was a sophomore in high school. Bill formed a small dance combo which Henderson joined, playing bass fiddle. Skiles was (and is) the clown and Henderson is the straight man, so when Bill started doing goofy things on the bandstand, Pete would egg him on.
Everyone that came to the program had a great time. Skiles and Henderson involved the audience as much as possible. Skiles said they would like the audience to bark instead of clap. They just liked the sound of barking better. Believe it or not most of the audience then would bark instead of clap. By the end of the show everyone was feeling pretty good and laughing. Bill Skiles can make just about any noise you can think of without any props. Henderson would tell a story and Skiles would make all the noises appropriate for the story line. Everyone had a wonderful time.
